Terms of Service
Last updated 16 October 2026
Who you're agreeing with
WakaBuddy is made and run by Dhreylabs Consulting Limited, registered in Nigeria at 7, Gbolahan Shodipo Street, Millenium Estate, Gbagada, Lagos 100234, Nigeria. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
How we handle your information is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
What WakaBuddy is
WakaBuddy counts your steps and lets you compare them with friends, join groups and challenges, record walks, and get reminders and a coach. It is a fitness companion, not a medical service. Step counts, distances, calories, heart rate and sleep figures come from your phone, your watch and their apps, and are estimates. Don't rely on them for medical decisions, and talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise routine if you have a health condition.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 to make an account or use WakaBuddy. Open walks are for people aged 18 and over, because they mean meeting people you don't know. Keep your sign-in method (your Google or Apple account, or the email you sign in with) secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app or at wakabuddy.xyz/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Playing fair
Boards, leagues and challenges only mean something if everyone walked their numbers. Don't add steps by hand, shake your phone, use a step-faking app, or otherwise report activity you didn't do. We flag implausible days automatically and may exclude them from boards; repeat or deliberate cheating can get an account suspended.
Be decent in chat and group names: no harassment, hate, threats, spam or sexual content. You can report a message or a person from inside the app, and we act on reports. We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
The community challenge and its rewards
Each month there's a community challenge. Only walks recorded with On-the-go count towards it, which is part of WakaBuddy Plus, and only real walking: on foot, at walking pace, with your phone's own step count to match the distance. A month can have a shared goal, which everyone who took part is rewarded for reaching together, and the five who record the furthest are rewarded at the month's end.
Rewards are badges and WakaBuddy points. Points have no cash value: they can only be spent in the app, on what the Points screen offers, and can't be sold, swapped or transferred. If we ever add another prize to a month, such as a gift, we'll say what it is, who can win it and how it's delivered before that month starts; nothing in these terms promises one.
To keep it fair, walks are checked automatically, Google Play is asked whether a walk was recorded by WakaBuddy on a real phone, and our team looks at the recorded routes of the top walkers before the standings are settled. We can take a walk out of the challenge, or a person out of it, when it breaks these rules or the rules under Playing fair, and take back rewards that were won that way. Top walkers are named in the app and in the WakaBuddy channel; if you've switched off “Show me on the global board”, you still take part and can still win, but you're not named.
The Fines Jar
A group can set up a Fines Jar — a daily minimum, a fine for missing it, and a jar the group keeps. WakaBuddy only keeps the tally. No money passes through the app, we don't hold or transfer funds, and settling up is entirely between the members of the group. Whether and how a group settles is its own business and its own responsibility; check the law where you are.
WakaBuddy Plus
Plus is an optional subscription that adds features on top of the free app, as listed on the Plus screen. It is billed through the App Store or Google Play at the price shown there for your country, for the term you choose (monthly, quarterly or yearly), and renews automatically at the end of each term unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
You manage and cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not in WakaBuddy; cancelling stops the next renewal and Plus stays on until the end of the term you paid for. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy. If we offer a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled before then; one trial per account.
We may change Plus's price or what it includes. A price change applies from your next renewal, and the store will tell you before it does.
Walks, shares and your content
Walks you record, the shapes you share, your name, photo and messages are yours. You give us permission to store and show them in the app to the people you choose to share them with, and to make the share cards, stickers and videos you ask for. A live-location link shows your position to anyone who has the link, until the walk ends or you stop it — share it with care.
The coach
The coach is an AI assistant. It reads your activity to answer you and can act on your behalf inside the app where you ask it to. It can be wrong. Treat what it says as suggestions from a knowledgeable friend, not medical advice.
Availability and changes
We work to keep WakaBuddy running and improving, but it is provided as is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. Features can be added, changed or removed. To the extent the law allows, Dhreylabs Consulting Limited is not liable for losses that come from using the app, from inaccurate step or health figures, or from the app being unavailable.
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use WakaBuddy after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nothing in them takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
